Saul Run!

The Saul run is one of the best weekends of the year.  This year's run was especially awesome and fun.  We actually got to run it this year and so I didn't take a lot of pics, but other people did.  I borrowed these pictures from Vince at Lake Chelan Live! (https://www.facebook.com/LakeChelanLive) and there are a ton more great pics on their Facebook page.  I took some of the pictures with us in them for the blog, but the others are up over there.
Ryker wanted to run more than he wanted to be in the stroller, so he took off like the Flash!

DeA gracefully ran without the kids and stroller and rocked it.
Ryker eventually had to pee but didn't want Mommy to know that he wasn't in the porta-potty.  Rock promised to keep an eye out for Mom, and this is what ended up happening.
Rock finished strong and ran the majority of the race by himself.
He wasn't pleased with his time, but he blamed Jan and Fran for that.
Ryker finished strong, too.  Riding in the stroller probably helped, or maybe it was Poly's inspiration.
As part of the cool down period the boys did some inversion training.
DeA is kicking herself for letting the third place girl pass her right at the end.  She immediately went online and ordered some borderline illegal products to boost performance next year.

Moving the Herd

Rock always pretends to be a cowboy, and when some of his uncles bought a herd (of five) it was time for him to put his money where his costumes are.
He showed up ready to rope and ride.
Ryker rarely pretends to be a cowboy and wasn't ready to rope and ride.
The cows thought that Jeffrey's shirt was a salt lick; Rock used that to his advantage.
Ryker still didn't want to rope and ride.
We started to move the herd west towards the trail.
Jensley made sure to inspect each head of livestock to ensure that only the most premium beef made the trip.
DeA had to hold her back because she wanted to attack each of the cows.
Ryker wanted nothing to do with the messy, dangerous cattle.
Sometimes the cows don't want to go where you want them to go, that's why we keep Jefe around to take them where we want them to go.
The herdmasters kept a close eye as the livestock was loaded into the dump trailer.

Jens really, really wanted to ride in the trailer with the cows, but Mommy held firm that her little girl wasn't going to take a bath in cow poo.

The kids (and the adults that had to drive) all thought it would be a good idea to ride in the trailer with the peeing and pooping machines.  Suddenly the cows weren't so cute.

At some point Ryker decided that he liked cows and wanted to play with them.  I think having his Aunt Lesa there to help made a big difference.

Suddenly he was ready to rope and ride!
The kids were pretty happy about their time with the cows.

 Happy and worn out.

Full On Summertime!

The mornings can be kind of rough on a guy like Ryker.  Ryker likes his sleep, and so does Baby Zaguar, but Rock doesn't seem to need much sleep at all.  So this morning Rock woke up, found his blocks and drew himself a bath.  Then he made boats with his blocks.  In doing all this he turned on the light to their bedroom, and that is how Ryker ended up on the couch wishing he was still asleep, just like Baby Zaguar.
The ice cream machine is back at Papa Dale's and Mama Rae's, so Jens is happy again.
Papa Dale got tired of fixing the chain on Rock's broken bike so he bought him a new one.  We all went to the shed to get our ride on and Ryker tried out his new helmet.
Jens coo'd and awed at people with her big, adorable eyes.
Ryker's tricycle might be a little small for him.

They are pretty tough biker dudes.
The boys are still loving Lego Batman and the Kinect games while Jens is still learning how to be a gamer chick.
On Saturday the boys begged for another round of riding at the shed.  This time we let Jens in on the action.
She couldn't reach the peddles but at least she didn't fall over.
Ryker decided that a scooter was more his style.
Rock started out wearing a long sleeve Superman shirt and quickly changed into his "sunscreen shirt".

Don't scratch their bikes or they will mess you up good.
At one point Ryker tried out his roller skates with little early success.
We went to Green Dot to refuel and fill the kids with enough food to help them fall asleep in the car.

They chowed their Mac and Cheese while Jens chugged apple juice.
Come late afternoon they decided that they needed more bike riding, so DeA and Rock took off while Jens, Ryker and I walked behind with the stroller.

Rock rode that little bike up some big hills, but quickly realized that his long sleeve cowboy shirt over his long sleeve Superman shirt was a little too much.

After we got to Ma and Pa's house I got to help Dad drop cows on a winery.  He's got video of it, so I'll try to steal it eventually.
Aunt Lesa has a pet Raven that we got to see at family dinner yesterday.  We named him Pitta.
