Sorry folks, still no Rock sighting. Either he's a little shy, or DeAndra doesn't want to share him with me and so she's keeping him locked up inside her uterus. But according to his ultrasound pics he's not very shy:
But at the same time, it's pretty clear that DeAndra isn't very comfortable right now...so I don't know why he's not here yet. So I guess we'll just leave him in and let him ripen up just a little more. The hospital has a wireless connection, and so hopefully we will be able to update the blog soon after he enters the world.
Now, for a cheap laugh, here's a picture a friend sent me from China.

YEAH!! More Belly Picks!!
Althought, at this point I'm more than ready to take pictures of a little baby. No offense to my sweet woman, but she's been less than comfortable lately. Putting on her shoes is hard for her (but pretty funny for those around her) and with every movement grunting sounds come out of that I've never heard before. But she's lookin' fetchin' awesome!! Probably the cutest pregnant woman that I've ever seen. But still...little Rock, if you are reading this you can come out whenever you want!!
On a personal note, I heard three words today that I wasn't prepared to hear. I don't think any married man is ever prepared to hear them, even though he wonders what it would be like. After a little dialog about a church assignment, I made a point. DeAndra at first didn't believe me, and so she called her mom. Her mom, without knowing, proved my point. So DeAndra came up to me and said those sweet three words: "You were right". It was a moment that I will always remember. Always.

Shh...the baby's sleeping
So, lately I've found out that incubating a baby is a lot of work. Poor DeAndra is so tired, and I feel like I should feel responsible. So I let her sleep as much as she wants, and a bonus is she looks so darn cute while she's asleep. I hope you enjoy this picture for the few moments it's up, because once she sees it, it'll probably be gone.
Oh, almost forgot to give you what you came for: Rock is moving alot. DeAndra woke up this morning and her belly was noticeably lower. I am hoping that they miscalculated his due date, because I have a lot more tests the weeks after he's due then the few weeks before he's due. But just because of that he'll probably come late, right in the middle of finals. Not a good way to start your life, getting grounded immediately by your dad. I'd have a mind to ground him from driving for quite some time. Don't think I won't.

The Magic of Whitey's
So there's this ice cream establishment out here called Whitey's. It is pretty amazing ice cream. DeAndra and I had visited them sparingly before her pregnancy. A little here, a little there. For Christmas a month and a half ago, my mother sent us some gift certificates. These gift certificates have been a huge blessing, because DeAndra claims that ice cream is the only thing that helps her heartburn. We've become such frequent costumers that when we went with Ben and Shannon we got our ice cream for free!! Pretty sweet.
So, we are at the point of DeAndra's pregnancy where she is less than comfortable. Another thing about this point of pregnancy is that all of a sudden my endearing little qualities are annoying little qualities. But I always know what will put a smile on my woman's face: Whitey's Ice Cream. Thank you Whitey's, for keeping Rock from being born without a father!
By the way, yes she can rest the cup on her belly, thus freeing her other hand. If you give her a canned beverage she can take a drink without the use of hands. I'm so proud of her.

DeAndra's Turn
Every once in a while I feel like I need to get on here and clarify some things that Aaron has said. If I don't check our blog often enough I usually see that Aaron has told a story and emebellished it or pretended he was me and said something silly. I guess he keeps things interesting. All is well here in Iowa. We are counting down the days until the baby's due date. I still have tons of stuff to get done so it will give me something to do when Aaron goes back to school on Monday. I am so excited for my Mommy to come on February 2nd!! Hopefully he decides to come near that time. My guess is he will come February 3rd, Super Bowl Sunday. Well, I love you all and hope you are all doing well!
Lonely....
So I'm not getting talked to right now, so I thought I would write in the blog. I did something wrong, but I'm not sure what it was. It started last night at the birthing class, about the time they showed a video. It was another pretty graphic, not shy birthing video with lots of fluids and other "stuff". DeAndra part way through turned to me and sheepishly asked if I though the laboring women were attractive. I said of course not, and kissed her on the head. Then I said "That's not a really attractive angle for anybody".
Anyway, she's been a little miffed at me since then and I'm still not sure what I did. The class went well, and Rock is moving and kicking all over. We were planning on...Wait a minute. when I said that's not an attractive angle, she thought I meant....oh boy gotta go

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Only a few short weeks until our home is turned upside down by baby Rock. We have indeed heard horror stories about babies crying all the time and whatnot, but we are prepared. We have spent the last eight monthsish talking to and training in-womb baby Rock to communicate openly, and without the need for screaming or yelling. So it should be a pretty easy transition from in-womb baby Fetus to out-of-womb baby Rock, as long as I can train DeAndra to communicate her needs without screaming and yelling.
We start our weekly pregnancy doctor appointments to check on Rock, make sure he's locked and loaded and ready to go. We are attending a birthing class that shows us some wonderfully graphic videos about childbirth. I was about to tell a story, but when I tried to bounce it off of DeA to see if I could get away with it I got a look that told me if I tried Rock would be an only child. So you will just have to wonder what I was about to say forever.
We had a great New Years, we spent it in Chicago with the Gordons and the Fords. We watched lots of football, played games and even got to go bowling. DeAndra even got a little attention, so it was a very good trip.
