Journey to South Carolina: Warships and the Trip Home

There was so much fun to be had on the trip that Ryker had a hard time bottling up his emotions.  He is excited that we visited Patriot's Point and toured a carrier (the Yorktown), a battleship (the Laffey) and a submarine (the Clamagore).
Aaron had no problem showing his love for a explosive bomb.
We pretending to be pilots in the briefing room and prepared bombing runs on a mime school.
The kids were so overwhelmed that they could hardly keep their eyes open.
At least Rock found an appropriate place to rest.

They loved the naval jets and pretended to make jet engine sounds while running around.

 "Pew pew pew!"
"Aw, too bad they took the keys out of the ignition."
They loved the video showing how the Laffey took on a huge attack and technically won (it didn't sink so we consider it a victory).
We hit the galley and enjoyed a naval staple of chips and cheese sauce.
Ryker wanted to know why Papa Dale didn't have a chopper like this one.
The Clamagore is a WWII sub that made me glad I am not a submarine jockey.
The boys finally had had enough awesomeness and started yawning repeatedly.
But they weren't too tired to lob off a few more rounds towards the mime academy.
"That'll break your stupid glass box!"
On our way out I contemplated getting Rock a two week extension on his school vacation.
By bedtime the kiddos were so ready for sleep that Jens crawled right in and pulled the covers up.
The fun also caused Rock to actually sit down and enjoy a show.  It was like he was sick or something.
We celebrated Ari's birthday the day before we left and it was the opposite of Rock's superhero party.  Pink was EVERYWHERE!
We woke up on Wednesday morning to a quarter inch of ice and no power.  Luckily we were one of three flights to make it out of Charleston that day and made our connection in Chicago by the skin of our noses.  Jens was exhausted and quickly fell asleep and DeAndra promptly followed suit.
Rock bunkered down for a long day of flying with his Pound Puppies and Nutella.
But, alas, our bionic child really does need sleep and it hit him hard.
It was nice to be back where the Lombardi Trophy calls home, but we still had over three hours to drive home.  Jens was unaware that she wasn't done yet and waited patiently for our luggage.
"No, Rock, that one isn't ours either."
Finally, after a fun drive over Stevens Pass we were home.  We celebrated by having Papa Dale,  Mama Rae, Lindz and Kassidy come over to give Rock more birthday presents.
Jens was happy to play with the toys and bide her time until her birthday.
We got the kids ready for bed and for some reason she decided to stand like this in front of the toilet after her brothers both went pee.

Journey to South Carolina: Chuck E Cheese!

There may be no phrase that brings simultaneously brings joy to children and outright dread to parents than Chuck E Cheese.  Rock made sure that his super power nap made him good to go.
Jens practiced whacking a mole on Ryker's head.
Ryker made sure that he got to go as a froggy and Ari I think is a princess.
Ryker told her that if she kissed him he'd turn into a froggy prince, but she never took him up on that.
I don't know why but kids love the crappy Chuck pizza.  Jens chowed it and Connor, who only has four foods on his approved food list, ate a ton as well.
Rock was pretty happy to be the birthday boy at CEC, especially since their birthday song said "Birthday's Rock!" over and over...and he thought they were singing to him.

He stayed a frog the whole time.
Ari loved showing Jens the rides and games.
Ryker loved losing at air hockey to his old man.
Rock invested all his birthday tokens into Skee Ball.  The kid was sweating and was working hard but just kept feeding those tokens into the slot and chucking the balls.
Froggy needed a nap as we were heading home.
DeA helped herself to Rock's birthday presents and became DeAngelo the Ninja Turtle.

For the most part the weather was perfect and allowed us to go running outside.  The lil' kiddos got to ride in the stroller until they fell asleep.
MMM...more cupcakes with ice cream frosting.
 More princess time.
The boys got awesome Spiderman and Venom costumes.
The rest of the day was filled with Spiderman and Venom jumping from things they shouldn't and Ryker crying because he isn't like Rock and needed more sleep.
