More Stuff

DeA finally hit her breaking point with the crappy spring weather, so she bought herself a cozy pod.

She gave it a test run on our front yard, and she was pleasantly pleased with how much the wind didn't reach her inside.

We had quite the Saturday, Jens and DeA went up to Oroville for softball and I went to Hartline for baseball. I have driven past Hartline probably 100+ times in my life but have never stopped. The field was classic high school baseball.

Rock played well in both games. In the 6th inning of the first game, ACH intentionally walked the bases loaded with two outs in a tie game to pitch to Rock, and he punished them with a two-RBI double into the left centerfield gap for the eventual winning runs.

Ryker and Hampa stopped to catch some of the games. They were returning from their Minnesota trip to pick up Ryker's new truck and apparently a fridge for Nama.

Three days of Canonball Run style driving seemed to have worn out Ryker.

Rock and Schnoogies had enough energy for everybody.

He slept right on through all the madness.

Horchata has claimed the patio chair as her new throne, and likes to sit and watch me read.

Leo Puppy was glad that Hampa was back, he hadn't been fed a hot dog in like four days.

Rock invited the Christensen boys over for some Sunday afternoon shooting. You can't be too ready in case the silly protests make it to the hillside.

 

A sleeping cave and more games

Ryker decided to renovate his room right before his trip to Minnesota. More on that later.

Rock had a game all the way down in Warden on a wet, cold, and windy day. He played well and had a few hits.

DeA was not impressed that they played the game in the wet, cold, and windy weather. But she was impressed with Rock's play.

Ryker decided that the best use of space in his room would be to build a cave under a working desk. He made sure to check that it could handle more printers.

It is quite cozy in under the desk.

We had a baseball/softball afternoon with games against Cascade. Jens started in RF on the softball side.

The baseball side had an acapela Schoenwald brother National Anthem

And a Rocko starting at catcher.

Jens had a walk, a HBP, and a strikeout in her 3rd ever HS game. Rock got HBP twice and took a few foul balls off the mask and was a little shaken up, but ended up finishing the game at 2B.

DeA enjoyed looking and feeling hot in her burrito coat out in CF trying to follow both games.

 

More Baseball and Some Softball

Nothing like loading up in the car on a Thursday and heading to beautiful Okanogan, the land of the cheaters for some league baseball action. Rock started at catcher and played well.

Manson played the should-be-in-class-1A Bulldogs tight, but had a rough inning and lost. The game ended when Rock fouled a pitch off his ankle, but neither ump wanted to continue umping and called it a fair ball. It swelled up pretty good and quick.

I like having babies in the office, they complain less than most of my patients.

Jensley had her first high school softball game and was pretty excited and nervous.

I cooked hot dogs from centerfield so that I could watch both games. She started at 3B and looked like a baller.

Dave and Lisa tried to surprise us by driving up Friday night and Saturday morning. Unfortunately, Lisa forgot to turn off friend finder and DeA was checking on Ryker's late night gallivanting and wondered why were Mom would be in Wasco, OR and driving north at 10pm and the surprised was ruined. We didn't tell the kids so Rock was surprised while playing 2B to hear his Grandpa Dave yelling at him.

Rock had a great double header with a 4-6 day and multiple RBIs.

Jens pitching an inning and threw a lot of strikes and gave up some cheap hits.

Jens made sure to teach Mama Zista and DeA the new dance moves.

We got a text from Rissa asking for help finding their brand new piglets. We looked for about an hour but couldn't find any trace of them. Max was a little dejected, he sat in the dirt saying "Dad tells me to shut the gate, but then he didn't shut the gate but he tells me to shut the gate but..."

I went over to Mom and Dad's to help Mom make gravy for family dinner when we got word that the piglets were spotted an orchard up the hill. We mustered a posse, jumped in the Schoenwald van and mobilized. It was an adventure to be sure, I have a mark on my forehead from a tree branch and scratches up my leg from the barbed wire, but Andrew was able to snag the first one and the other one was pushed back to the pen. It was a fun and successful old-fashioned pig roundup.

Leo liked the extra attention.

 

Journey to Idaho

DeA and I have done quite a few trips lately, but they have been to Moscow for hockey, or Spokane for hockey, or Yakima for hockey, or Tonasket for basketball or...Basically, we needed a trip for ourselves. We found a closed Forest Service road and hiked about a mile and a half in and out.

Don't let the sunshine fool you, it was below freezing 

Our cute little cabin had a hot tub which was great on the cold nights.

We had a good weekend enjoying Idaho, but now DeA is wearing out Zillow looking for properties. Also, the house was set to 70 degrees but she was still rocking the burrito coat.

Rock's baseball jamboree did not happen. Cowards.

Rock and Ryker are now a Costco household. 

For a cat that isn't allowed in the house, Horchata spends a lot of time in the house.

Rock's senioritis is likely terminal. He came home from seminary and plopped down on the couch without a word. He did not wake up for school. Leo puppy, who does not have senioritis, still decided that a good idea is a good idea.

Poor Schnoogies has been very busy with her homework. She has spent many, many hours on the computer.

She took a little break to watch Rock's first baseball game against Chelan. They really didn't play as poorly as the 15-0 score indicated, every bleeder, blooper, and chopper that Chelan hit seemed to find the hole. Rock hit the ball hard both ABs, but right at somebody.

"At least it isn't snowy"

"Rock is interesting. He has your build, definitely, and my face. But where did he get his butt?" - His mother.

 

DeA is back in action

Schoogies got the go ahead to go back to working out. She is still strong and athletic.

I got to coach the softball girls for the first three practices. DeA helped me and showed off her new clearance by doing warm ups with girls.

I think she thought we were approaching the North Pole and not having softball practice.

Ryker had some wall space burning a whole in his head so he crafted another shelf. It's sturdy and well-made.

The teenagers sure love messing with their ma.

Oh, a normal jacket for practice. How appropriate.

Rock stopped by the office on his way to court to get a deferral for Jens not wearing a seat belt back in November. He looked quite dashing in his suit.

DeA wanted to be the cool aunt, so she bought some little capybara wind-up toys for Leo. She wasn't surprised with Luca and Sofia showed up shortly after wanting toys, also.

Ryker is back to his building obsession, and he's building me a proper woodshed so that we can have an appropriate place to beat them with switches.

Leo Boy made a new YouTube channel and I guess Jens was his first subscriber. Her reward was a piggy.

My "free" woodshed has only cost me lumbar, screws, nails, a new DeWalt framing nail gun, 100' feet of air hose, six trips to Home Depot, and a case of nails. Not bad.
