Thanks to Mawma Zista's help last week Rock now has a pretty cool toy room. He likes to hang out in there drinking root beers and eating Cheetos. Ryker found a comfy little spot of his own. Occasionally DeA will let Rock and Ryker play on the floor. Initially she plans on letting them play for an hour or so, but so far the record is 34 seconds before she has to stop them. She did discover that if she pulls out the camera that she can get them to play nice, since they like attention. Rock knows what cameras are, and knows what to do for them. Sometimes Rock just leaves Ryker scratching his head wondering what is going on. We are still getting used to not being really close to family like we were in Oregon, but it is nice to be close enough for weekend trips. This week Bampa and Mawma England brought us a dresser and enjoyed some R & R. Ryker is finally smiling for the camera, and he is pretty sure that he could get used to the attention that smiling brings. That kind of attention is much better than the attention that crying brings. DeA found out that Mawma and Bampa Judd might be coming next weekend, and that would mean that we'd almost have visitors every week for the first month that we are here! To celebrate she clipped her toenails in the car. DeA found out that there is a pretty cool and massive mall just down the street from our house, and so she loves to spend as much time there as we can.
Can anyone notice what is wrong with this picture? We are in the process of acquiring a double stroller, but for now we only have a single. So, Rock gets to lay on the bottom and then Ryker's carseat sits on top. It worked out great for a little bit... but then it didn't work out so well. Ryker didn't seem to have any problems with the arrangement. Rock knows exactly where the play area is, and so he made Bampa come with him and push the other kids off of his toys. Southcenter has a pretty decent food court, and so Rock got to enjoy three kinds of ketchup: Charley's, Wendy's and Ivar's. He sat and ranked them according to color, texture and taste.
Unfortunately, Mawma had to get back to play the organ in church. The last thing Bampa showed Rock before he left was how to wear undies on top of your head. Rock tried to hear his BVDs up there all afternoon and evening to try and bring Bampa and Mawma back. Eventually he snagged the keys and tried to drive to Manson...but he couldn't reach the break and gearshift at the same time to put the car in reverse. So, eventually he settled for a trip to the grocery store. Yup, that's right, we are officially boring married people who think a trip to Winco is a fun way to spend a Saturday night. Sad.
The boys had a blast this weekend with all the family. They got to go to Ikea and Rock pushed around his own little shopping cart. Bampa Dale had to go into the parking lot twice to find it, and Rock showed his appreciation by ramming everything/one that he could. Rock kept hearing rumors that Mawma Zista and Bampa Dave weren't going to stay forever, so he tried his hardest to persuade them. Mawma helped DeA unpack the house and get it in 'home' condition. Rock was more than happy to help by pushing Ryker around in the bassinet. DeA didn't think the men were being good supervisers since we let this happen, but we still think it was a fun way for the brothers to bond.
"Okay Rykie! My turn!!"
"No way man, I don't want Mommy mad at me for doing what you did to me!" On Monday, after everybody made sure that I was safely contained at work, they went to downtown Seattle and went to the Space Needle! They got lucky, since the one sunny moment during their whole trip was while they were up on the Needle. Rock was disappointed that he couldn't throw off the stack of pennies that he brought. You can tell that Rock isn't used to, nor does he approve of, not being front and center of a family picture. Lindsey probably took this picture for some dude in Utah, but I stole it from Facebook anyways (and all the other Space Needle Pictures...thanks Linds!!) Oh, what a surprise, clouds rolling into Seattle. The good news is that you can see Safeco and Qwest Fields from here. That made it all worth it!
Blowing seductive kisses bye-bye. This is also the last thing he remembers from the visit from the Judds. Shortly after this he fell asleep in the car, and when he woke up he was ticked off that everyone was gone.
Rock and Ryker went to bed pretty excited Friday night. They knew that they were going to have visitors on Saturday!! They both even tried to put on their cheesiest happy faces.
Ryker stayed up a little later than Rock, but don't let Rock know...
Rock got all dressed up for family fun Saturday morning. He was happy and surprised to wake up to the Judds. At first he resisted their requests for him to preform, but eventually he relented and put on a great show. He has been working on his cutest face, and he finally broke it out for Mawma and Bampa. Rock was surprised to see Mawma and Bampa England visit on their way home from the airport. Mawma Zista helped him take a shower and get all cleaned up. Sunday morning Rock woke up to a tap-tap-tapping at the door. He ran to open it and found an Easter basket!! He was pretty stoked. He carefully went through every item in the basket and shook every egg to find the candy. And he took a bite out of every chocolate bunny to make sure that they knew who was their boss. Little did he know that someone else was lurking and ready to steal his chocolate bunnies. Well, make that two people...since eventually Ryker will get to enjoy the stolen bunnies, too. After Rock went through his basket he headed outside to collect the colored eggs that Mawma Zista...um...I mean the Easter Bunny...left behind. He looked high and low for the eggs filled with sweet, sweet candy. He also loved carrying around his awesome basket while collecting the eggs. "Arg!! I can't reach it because I have this giant head and small, little arms." He had to hurry and pick up the eggs before Derek and Lindsey stole them!
"Mmm...so much candy...so much delicious candy...mmm..."
