Jens feels like life is unfair because her birthday comes after those of her brodders. She sees all the attention that they get, and yet she has to wait. Finally, after what seemed like forever, her day arrived. She celebrated with delicious pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. Doesn't she look so excited?
There's a smile...sort of.
Being the queen at school wore her out. Her subjects acted as if they didn't realize that they should be extra adoring on her birthday
She made a list of demands requests for her birthday, one of which was a family dinner at La Brisa.
We were happy to oblige, and to indulge in the fried ice cream.
If Ryker had a belt, he would have unbuckled it and patted his belly.
Maddy Avalos made her a beautiful Trolls cake
Jens was thrilled with her Barbie RV present.
DeA thought it was time to make our lives less fun, and let Jens invite 13 little screamers to the house. She will lie and say it was fine and she handled it well, but know that she has imposed a ban for infinity on having birthday parties with friends.
Jens got to play tee ball this year. I don't know why they make them wear helmets, the ball is soft and is sitting on a tee. Helmet or no, she can smash the ball.
One of the hardest things about Jens' birthday is that Grandpa's is the next day. Her glory and attention is short-lived.
Chayo, Maddy, and Irma made dad delicious carne asada tacos, rice, horchata, agua de fresa, and a strawberry cake. Grandma made him his annually requested wacky cake and milk in a bowl.
The tacos were pretty good, you should try them some time.
The Wenatchee Wild made the Canadian Junior League Hockey playoffs. We took the kids to as many games and we could, and they loved every minute. You might notice that two of the girls below are not our kids, that's because we started inviting other families and friends. It was a hockey party!
They won every game we attended, and the games were so fun that even DeA would ask about the next opportunity to watch them play. She comes to the games for the blood, but she stays for the fights.
They have a kid's zone that is popular during the intermissions. There was a kid there that was distraught because he did not know how to make a paper airplane. Rock got down on the floor and helped him make a quality craft. Rock is a pretty good kid.
One time, just once, after a game we stopped at Sonic for ice cream. Apparently that created a perpetual obligation to visit said establishment every since time we go to a hockey game. So we did, and dragged the Lymans along with us.
It's nice to see that even though the kids fight fairly often, not really any more than normal, that they do maybe kind of like each other.
We've been spending as many moments as possible up at the knoll. Now that the house is a house we can relax inside, protected from the harsh sun and dusty trails. Ryker likes the cuddle time with Grandma.
Imagine a kitchen table, a bowl of Fruit Loops, and a Mariners game and it is like the house is already finished.
Jens starts begging for a four-wheeler ride as soon as we turn on the driveway. It doesn't matter what we are wearing, what we are doing, or how much time we have. She wants her danged four-wheeler ride.
It's nice up at the knoll.
The wind can get annoying at times, but it's still pretty neat.
