Stehekin, Day 2

As most of you know, it isn't easy getting teenagers up in the mornings, unless you have a Ranch breakfast waiting for you.
Baby Luca was a big fan of the food and the hot cocoa and the lemonade and the food.
We all hopped into Cheeto, who thankfully started right up, and drove up to the Agnus Gorge trailhead by High Bridge. DeA commented that the road felt more narrow this year, but she insisted that it had nothing to do with the fact that Rock was the one driving on them.
Before hike pic!
In the past, we have had some rough starts to our hikes. We have had kids want to quit while you could still see the car. This year was much better, and we still looked fairly fresh by the two-mile mark.
Sitting by the water is always a great rest after the hike.
Apparently DeA was a little upset with Jens' effort and energy.
Or she was scared that Jens was going to overreact to a butterfly and fall onto the rocks, I can't remember anymore.
Ryker's dad knows him well enough to know that he would want water even after claiming that he didn't need water and brought him a LifeStraw to filter water at the river.

Along the way, DeA and Ryker started counting and comparing steps and entered into a competition. That is why our after hike picture is incomplete.
They just took off down the road trying to out-step each other.
DeA happily jumped in the car, Ryker did not.
I was starting to think that Ryker might be taking this competition a little more seriously than his mother was.
The little boys loved chasing the ranch cat.
It took a little bit, but finally the kids settled in enough that the adults could, too.
Baby Luca really enjoyed the room to roam

A tale of two prime ribs.
DeA loved her burnt shoe-leather prime rib.
Mistaya and her family have a pug, and Jensley loves pugs. They were kind enough to bring Snoop Pug to her parents house so that Jens could play with him.
Relaxing time is what makes Stehekin great.

The kids discovered orchard grass.

Mistaya's crew also have horses and let Max sit on one.
The kids were pretty awed but slightly scared of the horses.
"Good horsie. Calm horsie"
