For Family Home Evening last night we decided to teach the boys about missions. I dressed up in a white shirt, tie and name badge and walked out into the living room. Rock saw me and just freaked out. "NO!! You can't be missionary, you my daddy! YOU CAN'T BE MISSIONARY!!" So DeA made them their own badges. Ryker didn't quite get the hang of it.
Rock wasn't sure if he wanted to be a missionary,
but then he heard about all the letters from the young women in the ward and he was sold!
He grabbed his scriptures and set out on his mission.
Eventually they got distracted and started going through my scriptures.
Ryker made out with my old Spanish hymnal. He tried singing some of the songs, but didn't do very well since he's a baby.
Rock knew that he would need a tie and some tracting shoes. Ryker knew that he would need to look happy for the picture.
So, eventually Rock got off of a chair and said that he was home from his mission. DeA asked him if he was getting married now, and he said "Yeah. I home now. I marry Macey." In other news, Ryker got his first taste of delicious honey. He was a fan.
Lil' Gyker is already a year old, but that doesn't mean that he has all of his teeth. He's still as toothless as a old trapper.
One of the fun traditions that we picked up in Iowa was the idea of letting the one year-old plow through his own giant piece of cake. Ryker did much, much better than Rock.Rock was amazed at the brutality that Ryker used to attack his cake. He just didn't know what to make of it.
Eventually he decided to help himself to the mess and enjoy the ride.
But, even then he wasn't sure about everything. Was he going to be able to vacuum up all the cake crumbs with the cheapo vacuum.
"Daddy, how are you allowing this? And on a school night!"
"The horror! The horror!"
Meanwhile, DeA enjoyed watching Ryker destroy his cake. She always wondered if the reason Rock didn't eat his cake was because he wanted vanilla. Now she doesn't care anymore, because Ryker chowed his wacky cake. There was a pretty good mess. Enough of a mess that we wish we had a dog to either lick it up, or hide the mess with his own mess.
Way to go Ryker! And Aaron, I expect this many blog posts every week.
ReplyDeleteLooks good enough to lick his fingers. I'm glad Rock had a great mission. Where did he go?
ReplyDeleteI second Whitni's blog requests. Ryker would like it even more if it was in a bowl of milk. The cake did look great tho, wished we coulda shared it. Rock did great leading his parents in the song.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ryker! You are so cute!
