A Weekend in Stehekin

Dad had been doing a lot of flying for Courtney's and used those connections to reserve a cabin for us over 4th of July weekend. He flew us up in shifts with the first group going while I was at work and the second after I was finished. Ryker was in my group and really wanted a nap.
We arrived just in time for the delicious dinner. Ryker was beside himself with excitement.
Mom came up on the second flight to enjoy the fantastic food.
Jens loved the fully loaded lemonade.
The cabin and ranch were great, no cell service or internet but plenty of room for the kids to frolic.

The food was definitely a highlight of our stay. The kids would ask constantly throughout the day when the next meal would begin.

We utilized Cheeto to tour the valley, including a few trips to the landing to pick up necessities at the little store.
It's almost like they love each other.
We tried to go on hikes with the kids, some more successful than others.

Rainbow Falls was surprisingly still really full.
There was a swingset next to the cabin where the kids could perfect their circus moves.
We rented bikes one day with the hope of having a fun family ride. That lasted about five minutes before Ryker threw his bike down and proclaimed that he hated it.

Being too far away to make him walk back we let him climb into Jens' trailer. She wasn't happy, he wasn't happy and the ones pulling the trailer weren't happy.
Eventually we make it to a little clearing by the river where the kids could play with the mud. It was a nice break.

We switched trailer pullers on the way back and DeA realized that the kids together weighed almost as much as she did.
Did I mention that the kids always were looking forward to the food?

This is the face he made when he found out that we were fifteen minutes early for that food.
Most breakfasts were done in shifts, first the boys and then the girls. That was done mostly because the girls required more time to get ready for breakfast than the boys.
They had a game loft with some fun games that the kids wanted to play over and over and over and over again.
The clearing by the river became a popular spot.

More games.
You know it's a good trip when even Rock needs a nap.

We rode the Lady Express home despite the kids' worries that the boat would sink.
Thankfully the boat didn't sink and the kids had a fun ride home.

It was a good trip but the kids were happy to get back to being spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa.
We even made it back in time for the fireworks. USA! USA!

More Summer Was Left Than I Thought (and the Saul Run)

Jensley "graduated" from pre-school and had a ceremony.
 She looked to distinguished.

A puppy's life is so difficult.
My kids are so spoiled with the helicopter that they fall asleep in it almost every ride.
I don't remember why but somehow I ended up at Red Robin with the kids and no DeA. They handled themselves like pros and earned milkshakes.

Jensley went crazy and ordered vanilla. What a crazy girl.
Jens has started giving bunny ears to herself in pictures.
Running in the sprinklers is fun for both Jens and beast.
The kids wanted to see through the scope on the pellet gun. They didn't want to shoot it, just look through the scope.
The Saul Run was another big success. Rock wanted to run it by himself while Ryker went with DeA. That left Jens and I to run it together. Things started out great.
But there were just too many distractions that kept Jens from staying on pace.

She hit her wall around the 50 foot mark.
She was completely cooked at the 100 foot mark.
Eventually she finished with a combination of will power and Daddy's shoulders. She was smoked..
Hal and the grange put together a great spread after the race that the kids inhaled.
That's not Ryker so don't wonder why he looks different to you.
 So completely fried.
The award ceremony with Dad MCing.
Jensley celebrated her victory with a princess party.
