Back from Graduation, and a Little Catch Up Is Due

Grammy Rae came down to watch Rock while I was in Iowa and DeA was in the hospital with Ryker and Mawma Zista. I don't think she believed us when we told her that Rock is kind of high maintenance, but she learned first hand. During the day she would come to the hospital for a little break from the Rock monster, and found lil' Ryker a little easier to handle.
During the first 22 months of his life, Rock slept a total of two hours, and over 16587 hours pooping. Ryker is almost the opposite. He is so calm, passive and will sleep! What awesomeness! He still poops like Rock...but he is his mommy's son, so genetics have probably doomed us.
When he sleeps he is especially cute because he dreams of giant rivers of delicious milk, and that makes him happy.
Rock had the same dreams when he was the same age. Can you see the similarities?
The Grandmas loved holding their little joys...who would have thought?
"Hey Ryker, I bet you a football that you can't do something terrible to Mawma Zista's leg."
"Deal"
"I win!"
"Here you go little bro. But, I'll probably take it back soon since you can't chase me."
Grammy Rae posed with the boys before she left, Rock looks happy because he doesn't know that Grammy is leaving.
Rock had to relinquish his Mickey hat after it started walking on its own, and so Grammy bought him a new one to hold him over while Mickey is in the dishwasher.
Rock doesn't like going to bed while Ryker is still awake, since he thinks we are partying without him. But he really likes having a crib party with him, then he knows that he's not getting left out.

When I got home the boys showed me their new tricks; Ryker learned how to properly pose for pictures. And Rock learned my new title after graduation!

The Epic Story of the Birth of Ryker!!!

Feb 22, 2010 at 9am: A young mother-to-be-for-the-second-time enters the hospital to deliver her baby boy. They make her put on a hospital robe.
9:15: She's still wearing the hospital robe.
10:15: She finds out that her delivery will be later. She is distraught (hence the black and white photo, it shows that this is serious).
12:30: She puts on a shower cap, hoping that it will hurry things along, since the doctors will think she needs to take a shower soon. It kind of works, because they take her in at 1:45 pm.
Sometime about the same time but maybe earlier or later, I don't know for sure: Our families wait in the waiting room, but try not to complain about having to do in the waiting room what it was named to be used for. Still no word on Momma and her baby.
A little bit after the previous time, that I am not going to retype: Rock wonders if the rumors about his Mommy cheating on him with another baby are true.
10:15: Grappy Dale drives all the way from Manson to be with everyone else for the birth of Ryker. He is also here to help Rock waste time and eat lots and lots of M&M's.
2:32: Rock feels a disturbance in the attention field around him. He decides it must be nothing.
2:45: Rock helps Grandpa Hugh find more M&M's, and if he should find more than he needs...well, Rock will be there to help with that, too.
Meanwhile, 50 ft away at 2:32 pm: Ryker is born!! What a cute little muscle pose.
His vitals: 7 lb 13 oz, 19.5 inches. 675 squat max, 435 bench max, 4.34 40 time, 1600 on his SATs before his eyes even opened!
4:00 pm: Mommy and Ryker are ready for company, but Rock isn't ready to realize that his mommy does have a new baby in her life! He's not entirely sure about this whole situation.
4:25: After wandering around in a fog of disbelief, Rock notices that people are holding the baby and seem to like it. So he decided to give it a try, and put his arms out and said "hold, hold". It seemed to melt his little tender heart. He even gave Ryker big brother kisses (not the sissy slobbery mommy kisses).
4:30: Ryker seems to like his big brother, too. Well, at least he didn't try to claw his eyes out like he did to Daddy.
4:35: Lindsey gets to hold Ryker and thinks to herself "Hmm...this is a lot different than the sack of flour they gave us in Child Development as school".
5:00: While Rock liked the little brother, he liked even more playing with all the cool hospital stuff, like rubber gloves and catheters.
5:30: Lil' Ryker gets ready to take his first bath. I think he was excited...but then again he's just a newborn so I'm not really sure that he knows what is going on.
5:35: Ryker learns that he has no privacy, other than a strategically placed nurse's arm.
DeA is doing great, and is recovering nicely. If someone wants to call her (since our phones don't get reception in the hospital) you can call me and I will give you her hospital number.
Oh, and you didn't think I forgot what today is, do you? HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DeAndra!!!I love you!! I am very lucky to have tricked you into marrying me!!

Boulder Watch and Birthday Pics!!

Our little Boulder arrives into our lives tomorrow around noon-ish. We are pretty excited to welcome him into our family, even thought Rock still isn't sure that he wants to share his Mommy and her abundant attention. His part of preparing is to take pictures with Grammy Rae's camera, whine to get attention from Mommy and be stinkin' cute for attention from everybody else.
We all got ready for church today when Rock came downstairs with one of my ties. It seems that he didn't think it was fair that I got to wear one and he didn't...it lasted about two seconds and then he didn't understand why he had to wear one at all.

I accidentally downloaded this picture of Dave at the coast...Lisa said I could keep it, so I did.
Rock likes all the baby stuff that 'he' is getting, like this cute blanket from the Clements. He likes getting swaddled in it, that way he is the only baby in Mommy's life.
Along with the picture of Dave (seen here), I also downloaded pictures that the Judds took on their camera before our old camera's (thanks Grappy Dale for the new camera so that you can for sure have pictures of Boulder right after his birth!) battery died. Rock was pretty excited to be the center of attention, and he was doubly excited to see the dumptrucks on his cake!

DeA made the cake and decorated it all by herself. It looked great!
Rock thought it looked great, but he was even more interested in how awesome it tasted. He munched himself quite a bit of cake and ice cream. He even put it in his new dumptruck to haul around for later.

Found the Hidden Camera

For those of you that have wondered where the pictures have been, I can tell you that Rock hid our camera. I know what you're thinking: "Oh, so you lost the camera and are blaming Rock. Shame on you!". Well, he hid the camera in this block thingie, since the camera fits in the top hole, so shame on you for shaming on us!
We finally found the camera tonight, and so I can upload awesome pictures, like another picture of DeA understanding a woman's place.
Or of this one. We came home from church on Sunday and Rock was a little worn out. He wouldn't let DeA cuddle with him, but he did walk up to the couch and put his head down. He ended up falling asleep standing up and leaning on the couch. Adorable.
After he was fully asleep DeA repositioned him and made him cuddle with her.
He is pretty cute when he sleeps. And he's quiet, which is DeA's favorite part.
I came home from work the other day and kicked off my shoes and socks...turns out Rock wanted some of that athlete's foot action.
He tried to walk in them, but it turned out to be a little trickier than he thought.
Every morning rock and I have a little routine: I'll work out and he'll play, then I'll make a protein shake and he'll try and drink it all before I leave for work. He tries so hard to drink all of the shake, and it can sometimes end up all over his face.

DeA is preparing for Boulder's entrance into our lives, and so she brought the changing table and the pack n' play into our bedroom. Rock was more than willing to help bring in the changing table, and then he tried to bring in the rest of his stuff.
"Hey! Why aren't you helping me with the crib? What do you mean it stays here? How will I sleep with you if my crib is in here? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BOULDER SLEEPS WITH YOU AND I STAY HERE? NO!!!"Rock was interested to see how the baby's bassinet was set up, he seemed a little jealous that he didn't get to use it too.
We let him play in the baby's bed for a little bit, but I think he had a little too much fun. But seriously, he is not happy that he's staying in his room and the little attention grabber is sleeping in Mommy's room. Not happy at all.
Before Rock hid our camera (for a refresher, click here) he took some cool pictures. Here is a picture he took of the view out our window.
This is a close up of Mt. McLoughlin from another picture he took. The kid has photo skillz.
He also has a talent of capturing his mother's true essence. The essence that I try to catch, but end up getting slapped.

Three more days until Boulder!!
