Waco!!

Waco is a place known for three things: Fixer Upper, Baylor University, and a cult. Seems like the perfect destination to meet up with the Scoresbys for the first time in 12 years. We (DeA, Jens, Ryker and I, no Rock because he had a football game and would come down on Friday with Gpa and Gma) woke up early on Thursday and drove to the airport. Jens threw up on the way and claimed that she was just carsick. I thought about turning around, but Ben is the one friend that I knew that wouldn't be worried about a little vomit.
The drive, flight, and drive went smooth. We made it to the house late and stayed up talking and catching up. The next day was Magnolia. We ate brunchish at the Magnolia Table takeout and then Shannon and DeA spent money while the kids played.
DeA wasn't sure about the trip, saying that she didn't think that she would like the Magnolia things. Turns out that a middle class mom was exactly the Magnolia demographic.

DeA waited in line for the bakery, the kids were a little overwhelmed with all the cupcakes when we finally got to the front of the line.
Saturday was game day. The kids were all super excited to cheer on the cougs!

I don't know how Rock keeps a hat on that head of hair.
Pizza-Hut. That's what they picked. They had options. Real options. Like Chick Fil-a, Texas BBQ places, and smash burger. Pizza-Hutt. What the crap?
It was beautiful day for football.

The Rock
It wasn't a good day for the cougs, but it was still a ton of fun.

I even got to see Danny!
"Hey, Ben, remember the time that you ate that giant ice cream cone and threw up on the way home?" Unfortunately Ben now watches what he eats, wakes up early on vacation to run 5 miles, and isn't interested in seeing how many White Castle sliders he can pound in 15 minutes. I'm glad that I'll never be bishop, if that is what getting called as one does to a person.
Schnookums looking hot as ever. Someone commented that she is way too good for me. She thought that that would offend me, and I told her no. The best way to explain why is "men want to love who they are attracted to, women want to be attracted to who they love".

She asked what that meant, and I pointed out the the first thing I noticed about her was how pretty she is. I told her that she didn't think much of me before she got to know me, and then getting to know me made me seem more attractive. Her response: "It's not that you weren't attractive...." and I said that she just proved my point.
We had to wake up a 5am to drive to Irvine to drop of the rental car before taking a shuttle to Dallas for the flight. Seems reasonable. Ryker enjoyed a messy breakfast Subway sandwich on the floor.
Airplane selfies with my BYU hat.

DeA was really excited to put on a hat that Holly, Sadie, Ryker, and I had worn over the course of the trip.
DeA kept checking on Jens on the drive home to make sure that she was okay. Ryker accused her of caring more about Jens than she ever did when he got car sick. Against all odds, he somehow became car sick right before we got home and demanded that we stop the car. DeA made sure to over-emphasize how concerned she was about Ryker's carsickness, and magically that made things all better.

Fall and Cross Country

I missed this pic of DeA from conference, right after she scolded the kids for not paying attention...
It's been fun hanging out in the cool evenings and seeing the leaves start to turn. Leo Baby loves the joyrides with his mom.

Max is learning how to right the dirt bike. Leo puppy is happy to race him.
Leo Baby will often come into our house, help himself to our pantry, and enjoy some Paw Patrol.
Jens had a soccer game at 9am (not pictured: Jens at her soccer game because I was coaching and reffing) and then DeA and I busted it to Liberty Bell to watch Ryker's cross country meet. He definitely looks the part!
Look at that start and runner's lean!
About one mile into the race, he still has the lean but the pace has slowed a little.
Finishing strong! He ran 1.5 miles in under 16 minutes. I'm pretty sure that I couldn't do that right now.
He did some sprints while waiting for his pizza at the bakery. He said he needed to get better.
We topped off the day with homemade burgers.
Leo baby was a fan.

I think MAXAMILIANO liked it, I can't tell from the look on his face

General Conference Weekend

Leo Baby has a way of letting you know that he's sick of waiting for you to feed him.
Rissa and Leo came over to watch Saturday conference with Jens and me, DeA and the boys were on their way to Leavenworth for Ryker's CC meet. Max came over to play Spiderman, but came upstairs for the Doritos.
It was a very reverent conference session.
Ryker did well in his race, it involved running up a ski hill, and placed 7th. You can see the excitement in his eyes.
Somehow, Sunday session of conference was even less reverent. The kids cannot and would not sit still.
Thankfully the donuts were ready to roll out before DeA snapped, that at least took the irreverence into the kitchen and away from her nap conference viewing.
"These glazed donuts could us some extra powdered sugar" is literally what Ryker said.
Max most certainly approved.
Conference weekend is the best.

Dress Like Gpa, and a Sports Road Trip

Ryker loves being in middle school, especially since everything is new to him. One of the homecoming themes was dress like a grandparent day, and he was super stoked to dress like Gpa Dale.
Spot on, spot on.
I unexpectedly got to hang out with Dean after work for about an hour before taking him to the YM's activity. We did tacos and picked up a butchered pig. It was wild.
Ryker was pretty excited for his first cross country meet in Tonasket. He slept in his uniform just in case the race broke out early.
Schookums, Dad, and I arrived at the race to a cold, driving rain storm. It was pretty miserable.
Ryker did well for his first race!
He didn't want to ride home with us, but instead sat on the bus with his friends.
We left Gyker and drove to Bridgeport to watch Rock play MS football. The weather was perfect and beautiful. Rock played left DE for the first time ever and figured it our pretty quick.

DeA stayed bundled up, even though the temperature was 20 degrees warmer and there were clear skies. Rock got his bell rung right before halftime and they sent him home with us to rest. We thought we beat Ryker and the bus home, but Jefe had dropped him off at home and Ryker didn't have a way to tell us. He was eating cereal at Mom and Dad's while Dad was waiting at the school and DeA and tending to Rock. Finally Ryker came flying through the door, excited to tell us about his run and bus ride.
