When Mom's Away...

Rock gets to do what he wants. Kick back and watch some baseball. "You're not going to tell Mom, are you? We're cool, right?"
Oh, I should probably warn you that there are lots of pictures in this post. That's because I get two constant complaints about the blog: one, too much of me in it. Two, not enough pictures of Rock. So here you go.
Rock has started experimenting more with 'real' foods, if you call rice cereal and plain oatmeal real food. He loves to eat, and of course we all know that he had to get that from his Mommy.

Rock is becoming more mobile everyday. We leave him in the middle of the room and we come back two minutes later and he has rolled and scooted himself into a corner. Then he expects Daddy to come swooping in and save him. I'm cool with that, as long as it ends before he is a teenager.

Another one of his latest fetishes is cords. He loves electric cords, shoe strings and hoodie drawstrings. When he gets a hold of one he just goes to town.
Last week Cheeks Noorda and Emma McKee had a little pool party. Rock was pretty excited to show off his beach body, until he felt the cold water. Cold water isn't his favorite.
Rock is getting pretty good at sitting up, and so we let him chill on the couch and watch ESPNBaby all he wants. Special thanks to Amy for the outfit!

Summertime Rock!!!!

Rock loves the outdoors, but he hates humidity even more. This has caused a little dilema for our little guy because he whines to go outside and then gets his Huggies all bunched up because of the stickiness. The good news is it makes his hair look even more awesome. But you can tell by his face that he isn't happy. He got lucky because he inherited his looks from DeAndra, but the poor guy inherited his sweatiness from me.But everything was perfect in his life the other night. It was 78* and under 50% humidity, so he got to go crazy outside!
But as you can see, his hair doesn't stay as awesome when he isn't sticky.

He forgot about his toes for a couple of days, but he has found them again, and he is making up for lost time. First he tries to stun them with loud slurping sounds, then he finishes them off by gnawing them to death with his vicious gums.

The other big news this week is his Exer-saucer arrived from Washington, and he is loving it!!

Here's a boring video of him in his Exer-saucer. Just him doing his thing.

Rock-sational!!

Rock was on a perfect little schedule before we left for our Oregashington trip. He was sleeping well and DeAndra was getting her rest too, it was nice. We were worried the whole trip that he was going to be all skewampus with his sleeping habits when we got back, and we were right. He will only fall asleep if somebody is holding him. He can be dead asleep and as soon as he touches the crib he starts to whine. Pick him back up and he is out like a light. I'll repeat this process about 45 times before I just leave him there and let him work it out himself. But, poor DeAndra can't sleep with her adorable little baby crying so she goes and comforts him. She told me if we had an ugly baby it wouldn't be so hard letting him cry himself to sleep. I guess that's why I was such a good sleeper as a baby.

See, he looks asleep. But he's only playing with me.

He loves this book that Grammy Rae gave him. He really does like it, he says it tastes like chicken.

This is where DeAndra told him that he gets to put himself to sleep from now on. C'mon, like you could tell that face no?
In case you haven't heard, Rock has his own theme music. Lately he's been trying to sing along when I sing it. Here's his latest performance. WARNING: Contains Aaron singing.

Midwest Rock!!

Rock made it home from his long west coast swing, and he has adjusted to being home better than DeAndra has. He still gets all the attention he wants but DeAndra doesn't have all the support and friends that she had on the trip. We had a great time out west and already miss all the family and the nice arid climate. He has been sticky and sweaty since we've been home, and has been cranky because he hasn't been able to spend time outside. But he is still as cute as can be, just look:
He's being really good now, he likes to just sit and play with his toys. DeAndra is able to get alot more done since he entertains himself alot better. She left him with his toys and was cleaning the kitchen. When she got back he was just kicking back and chilling while watching his Baby Einstein movies.

Here he is after his nap with his awesome bed hair.

Here's Rock explaining why he is the most awesome baby ever.

Spoiled Rock

So the little guy is spoiled. We've tried to keep this from happening, but when we put him down he makes a face like this: And one of the grandparents or aunts or uncles just have to pick him up. Then once he gets attention he puts on a little show like this:

Yeah, he doesn't like attention at all. At night he loves to sit outside on the porch and watch the sunsets.
Here's a little video to help you through the week.
